Andrew Katz is a founding partner of Toole Katz & Roemersma, LLP. Andrew has more than 12 years of experience providing tax planning and compliance services to real estate investment trusts, real estate private equity investment funds, and closely held companies. He has served many leading real estate firms located in the Washington, DC metropolitan area for more than a decade.
Andrew is a widely recognized partnership tax expert who provides solutions to complex issues, including minimizing unrelated business income for tax exempt real estate investors, consulting related to foreign investment in U.S. real estate, maximizing capital gains related to the sale of property, and modeling of complex joint venture economic allocations.
Previously, Andrew worked for over 10 years at a top 12 U.S. national accounting firm where he led tax compliance and consulting projects for real estate opportunity funds and property owners of all asset classes. Andrew served as co-leader of the Firm’s real estate and construction tax group.
Andrew is a member of NAREIT and is the current treasurer of the District of Columbia Building Industry Association serving on its Executive Committee and its Board of Directors. Andrew is a member of the Maryland Society of CPAs and the American Institute of CPAs.
Andrew is a CPA, received his Master’s Degree in Taxation from American University, and received his Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting from the University of Maryland.
