Kelly Toole is a founding partner of Toole Katz & Roemersma, LLP. Kelly has 25 years of experience serving closely held businesses, real estate companies, professional service firms, and high net worth individuals.
Kelly’s clients include high net worth individuals, real estate developers, real estate private equity investment funds, real estate investment trusts (REITs), property owners, and construction companies. He is a recognized leader in client service and was cited as a “Top CPA” by Smart CEO magazine.
Maximizing capital gain strategies, minimizing state taxes, and multi-year tax planning to minimize tax liabilities are the cornerstones of Kelly’s practice. He has extensive experience understanding the tax implications for all types of investors, including endowments, foundations, REITs, high net worth investors, and foreign entities. He advises clients to understand the tax implications of various complex joint venture provisions, including income allocations, fractions rule compliance, and many others.
Previously, Kelly worked at a top 12 U.S. national accounting firm holding various leadership positions, including serving as the Managing Partner of the Firm’s tax practice and leading the Firm’s commercial real estate practice. He served on the Executive and Management Committees for over a decade.
Kelly is a member of NAREIT, NAIOP, and the Urban Land Institute. He is a former treasurer of the District of Columbia Building Industry Association serving on its Executive Committee and its Board of Directors. Kelly is a member of the Tax Section of the Greater Washington Society of CPAs, the Virginia Society of CPAs, and the American Institute of CPAs.
Kelly has served as a faculty member in American University’s Kogod School of Business graduate tax program teaching “Tax Planning for Real Estate Transactions”.
Kelly is a CPA, received his Master’s Degree in Taxation from American University, and received his Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting from Bloomsburg University.
